Avengers Infinity Gauntlet Is Getting Crowded!

There’s been plenty of criticism of comic book films attempting to stuff too much into one film. Spider-Man 3 is usually the go to example, but the same claim have been placed against Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice. They pack a lot in order to cover ground and please fans, but doing so sometimes promises the opposite.

Well the Russo Brothers have clearly not paid attention to these worries or they just don’t care. The duo not only announced that 67 characters “distinct characters” would appear in Avengers: Infinity War last month at Wizard World New Orleans, they corrected the total and added one more during an appearance at Wizard World Cleveland this weekend:

“We have to tell a story and that story has to be built around the characters’ emotional arcs,” said Joe Russo. “And we can only have so many of those.” Rather than fleshing out each individual, the film will focus on a handful of characters, and many superheroes will play ancillary roles, he said.

We’ve had speculation about who will be appearing in the film, including some of the non-superpowered members of the Marvel Universe. We’ve also had plenty of rumors where the Guardians of the Galaxy aren’t even involved in the story at all — which is still highly questionable. No matter what actually happens when the film comes out, it seems there is going to be a lot of bouncing around between characters. Good thing most of them are bound to die, clearing up some room.
