MTV Awards: Civil War, Fantastic Beasts and Kong

Last night was the MTV Movie awards and as is the custom it was night to showcase the upcoming blockbuster line up for the Summer and Winter seasons. There was a lot of great stuff showcased last night from DC, Marvel and JK Rowling but we selected our top 3 favorite takeaways from the night. Enjoy!

Civil War: New Footage

So with BvS behind us the next major superhero bonanza of note is the upcoming Civil War film (Suicide Squad is a supervillain flick before you get all uppity 😉 And we could’t be more hyped about the film then by grabbing a sneak peak at some more great Captain America footage. Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.

MTV Showcases KONG!

The new film takes place in the Vietnam War era, quite a few years after the events of the first film. It stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson, among many others. The film takes an elite group tot he island where they encounter huge mythical beasts. The film will build on the mythology that Legendary Pictures created with Universal and Peter Jackson’s King Kong film in 2005.

Here’s your first look at the new movie:

Harry Potter Verse Returns!

Last and certainly not least…the Harry Potter universe returns with the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them! Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, the forthcoming Harry Potter spin-off movie (of sorts), will be released later this year — November 18th, to be precise. Based off the book of the same name by J. K. Rowling, the movie, for which Rowling also wrote the screenplay, will follow Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he travels to New York and deals with a literal outbreak of the magical creatures he’s studying. As the above trailer shows, there’ll be a magical parrot! And maybe a platypus too! Also, Colin Farrell.
